Donald Trump said Melania tells him not to dance. In the words Trump attributed to her, Melania gave his role as U.S. president as the reason for asking him to refrain.
Trump quoted Melania as saying to him: “Sir, please don’t dance. You are the president of the United States.” The quoted words show Melania addressing Trump as “Sir” and asking him not to dance.
In the sentence Trump recounted, the reason for the request is his position as president. The statement consists of Melania’s words to Trump; it provides no further detail about when or in what setting dancing came up.
