Arda Turan was asked what he would say if one of his players took off a boot and threw it at an assistant referee. In his first, humorous response, Turan said he would tell the player, “Just make sure you don’t hit them.”
Turan clarified that the remark was a joke before explaining how he would respond seriously. If the player had good reason to be angry, he said, he would tell them that he understood.
However, Turan added that he would also tell the player that the way they expressed their anger was wrong. His answer distinguished between understanding a player’s anger and disapproving of expressing it by throwing a boot at an assistant referee.
