Rainfall in Sakarya during October provided enough water to meet the city’s drinking-water needs for approximately 4.5 months. The precipitation also raised the water level in Sapanca Lake.
The lake level stood at 29.87 metres on October 1 and later rose to 30.51 metres. This represented an increase of 64 centimetres over a period of about three weeks.
During the same period, 32 million cubic metres of water flowed into Sapanca Lake. The volume supplied by the October rainfall was calculated to be enough to meet Sakarya’s drinking-water needs for 4.5 months.
