The humanitarian crisis is deepening in Taiz, Yemen, which is under a Houthi siege. The dialysis center operating at Sevre Hospital in the city is facing the threat of closure.
According to Yemeni journalist Mohammed al-Rumaym, thousands of people received services at the center. For patients undergoing dialysis, its closure would mean losing access to the treatment provided there.
Al-Rumaym said that closing the center would lead to the deaths of most dialysis patients. With the humanitarian crisis worsening in besieged Taiz, the risk that the hospital’s dialysis service could shut down stands to affect the thousands who received care at the center.
