Heavy rain causes retaining wall to collapse in Ortaköy

A retaining wall collapsed in Ortaköy because of heavy rain affecting Istanbul. The incident took place in Ortaköy, and the structure that collapsed was a retaining wall; the collapse was linked to the rainfall affecting the city.

AKOM said rainfall in some parts of Istanbul exceeded 200 kilograms per square meter during the same period of heavy rain. The measurement indicated the levels reached in some locations across the city.

Flooding and incidents in which people were stranded were also reported across Istanbul in connection with the rain. The collapse of the retaining wall in Ortaköy was one of the incidents during the same period of rainfall.
