A father in Istanbul said that his daughter and her former husband had lived in a home belonging to him throughout their marriage. He sought five years’ worth of rent from his former son-in-law.
The rent demand concerned the period of the couple’s marriage, during which the father said they lived in his home. The claim was directed at the former son-in-law and covered a five-year period.
The Court of Cassation found the rejection of the rent claim lawful. In other words, it considered lawful the rejection of the father’s demand that his former son-in-law pay five years of rent.
